Hubble is a new bear in my 'Paws the Moment Collection?. These bears are a hybrid between a traditional teddy and more realistic bears. They have more detail than some of my other bears - especially in their paws and each one also has a small tail. They represent many hours of work as they are more complex in design, often including extra joints and armature to allow more 'pose ability'.
Hubble is Nova's brother. He is made from the same fudge coloured, luxurious 25mm long dense, straight pile mohair with some additional cream contrast pieces on his chest, muzzle and inner ears (although the muzzle and ear pieces are trimmed and shaded so are not so noticeable). Hubble is designed to look more masculine being generally 'heavier set' than Nova. His head has a deeper muzzle and a slightly wider head gusset which incorporates a centre seam to create a 'centre parting' effect.
Hubble stands approximately 16" tall and 12" sitting (to tips of his ears). He is 8- way jointed with nut and bolt fixings at his shoulders, legs and double neck joints. I have also added joints in his upper arms so they can twist from this point in addition to moving up and down so his paws turn. He a has a padded wire armature in his legs, lower arms and down his back which allows gentle posing both in a sitting position and on 'all fours'. Please note that although the metal is strong it may not stand up to rough handling. He is stuffed with polyester and has a bag of steel shot in his tummy to give a nice weight.
Hubble's face has been shaped by needle and scissor sculpting and then hand shaded using a combination of marker pens, pencils and acrylic paint to add character. He has black glass eyes and a brown hand sculpted Fimo clay nose with an embroidered mouth. His paw pads are highly detailed with light brown ultra suede trapunto applique which has then been extensively sculpted with pulled toes and hand shaded details.
He wears a light brown leather collar with a Tibetan silver bear paw charm. He has my ?Lynton Teddy Bears? fabric label sewn into his back seam and a removable swing ticket.
